Is Michael Phelps the greatest athlete of all time?

Postby DiehardLonghornFan » August 13th, 2016, 6:58 pm

I am of the opinion that he is deserving of the title. He has performed on the biggest stage of his sport and has remained dominant even at age 31. Michael Jordan won six titles, but it was never against the world's best, just the second best team in the NBA. Tiger Woods was great over a long period of time and won all the majors, but now he's a shell of his former self. What say you, fellow GASFers?

As far as staying at the peak of his ability for a sustained period of time, he would be the one.

Jackie Robinson

- Baseball Hall of Famer
- 2x Pac 8 scoring leader as a point guard
- All-American running back
- 1940 NCAA long jump champion

He didn't have the same sustained dominance in any of his sports, but he was good at EVERYTHING he did.
I intend to live forever... so far, so good.
