I thought Miami was known as "The U" also. |

Sure your Canes were hated in the 80's and 90's but does anyone even care about them anymore? |

With all the other schools, it's assumed that they are universities.

SI updated their top 25 Most Hated Teams of All Time which now includes the 2010-2011 Miami Heat at 25.
They have 15 2005 SC and couple of Miami teams 1-1986 and 11-1990, teams as well other assorted members none not of much a surprise.
The surprise for me IMO.
17 1993 Notre Dame football
I could see 1977
Also where's Nebraska 1997
Dubby,
Both of the examples given hurt your Penn State Lions.
I don't know why they specifically singled out 1993.
Also, I wouldn't see Nebraska there at all.
interesting that Jimmie Johnson is #1 and #3.
1997 Nebraska pulled a win from the jaws of certain defeat with the come from behind miracle in Columbia infamous batted and kicked football which touched the ground and caught for the tying TD to send the game into OT. Nebraska won 45-38. Two weeks later Nebraska once again had to pull victory from the Jaws of certain defeat Vs 5-5 Colorado pulling the game out 27-24.
Nebraska throttled Texas A&M 54-15 and Tennessee 42-17 and proceeded to whine their way into split National title with Michigan. Nebraska got the Sears Trophy.
Michigan on the other hand beat 10-3 Ohio St, 8-5 Wisconsin team and 11-1 Wazzu in the Rose Bowl down the stretch. No miracle comebacks or poor efforts Vs sub .500 team. Their thanks was Nebraska was able to whine their way into split National title with them talking about the past two games they'd played. While ignoring they fact they were almost beaten in two of last three regular season games they played. Also lost in the Nebraska whine and cheese was an early season struggle at home Vs 5-6 UCF lead by one Duante Culpepper. Nebraska won 38-24 in game that was in doubt until late.
I'm firm believer in you should look at the entire body of work and not just the last game or two played for saying this clearly shows as the best team in the country.
That's why I mentioned 1997 Nebraska.
Sorry bob. I didn't buy Nebraska was best team in 1997 and whinnying about who would you want to play off the Tennessee and aTm games while ignoring the UCF, Missouri and Colorado games. The CU and Mizzou games all came couple weeks prior to the aTm game.
I think Michigan was very fortunate they didn't play Nebraska that year. My opinion has a lot to do with that Iowa game, but also the makeup of the Big10 that year. Iowa was the only decent rushing team in the conference and gave Michigan all kinds of trouble. Michigan's defense would not have held up well against Nebraska, especially in the 4th quarter. Nebraska's defense had no problem with Mr. Manning though. The match-up would not have favored Michigan.
As for the voting, I have no doubt the retirement announcement was a strong factor in Nebraska getting a share of the MNC. It would be interesting to see what would have happened had he not retired though.
Allow me to inject some reality into your fantasy here.
That "all kinds of trouble" your in-depth analysis mentioned was a total of 101 yards on the ground for Iowa. This included a 53-yard touchdown run where Banks got through the line. Despite getting 53 yards on that gain, he still couldn't get 100 yards for the day. Your claim that Michigan had trouble with the running game is a figment of your imagination.
Iowa scored 21 points in the second quarter. There was the 53 yard touchdown run, a 61 yard punt return and a 1 yard scoring drive after an interception.
Bob,
There no fantasy over what I saw in 1997, NU should have lost to Missouri and Colorado and the Nebraska team I saw in those games played in November was not the best in the land and still wasn't after beating Tennessee.
Beating up a medicore aTm team who came into the B12 title game having lost to K-State and Texas Tech during the season. Then beating up Tennessee team who was throttled by Florida 33-20 earlier in the season. There was nothing from those results that should had Nebraska vaulted over Michigan in the coaches poll.
I'll give Nebraska props for 1994 (Although that should have been a shared title with Penn St)
I'll give Nebraska props for 1995 as one of the all time greats.
But, I'm sorry 1997 was gross injustice to Michigan and slap to face for 1994 Penn St given the ENTIRE body of work for the season. |
Gilbert Cavs team President owns Fathead and he lowered the price on Lebron fathead to $17.41. The significance of 1741 was that was the year Benedict Arnold was born.

| I will agree that Michigan was the best team in the country in 1997. |
